The Pride of Valerie Manor
I cannot even begin to express how proud I was yesterday of our Valerie Manor finalists at the West Sussex Care Accolades 2013. You may remember that four of our staff were shortlisted for awards – an achievement in itself as this year saw a record number of nominations across the region making it even more difficult for the judges to choose. It is with great pride that I can announce that three of our staff were Winners in their categories and one was a Runner Up! – an amazing achievement and meaning that Valerie Manor featured highly in four out of the eight categories. Huge congratulations to all our finalists for receiving these awards for their constant hard work and dedication.
It was a lovely day at the Awards Ceremony held at the Arundel Wetland Centre. Guest speakers were Amanda Rogers, Director of Adult Services at West Sussex County Council, and Karen Stevens from Skills for Care. There were lots of happy tears at the event as the presenters spoke very highly of care staff and the job that they do. The Accolades honour extraordinary individuals and organisations that provide social care services to the residents of West Sussex. The various awards which constitute the Accolades recognise those whose work has been particularly noteworthy, and who exemplify the long-term commitment that characterises many social care providers.
Two of our residents from Valerie Manor joined us for the trip to Arundel and Awards Ceremony and it was a delight to have them with us. One resident who attended spoke unprompted at the end of the ceremony and said that it was ‘a privilege to live at Valerie Manor’. This brought tears to my eyes yet again!
Below are our four fantastic finalists with details of their nominations showing how worthy they all are of their awards. You can also view some pictures of the event in our online gallery.
