Lucy – Our Activities Facilitator
When Lucy came to me and suggested a role that involved spending more individualised time with our residents and co-ordinating outings and events I was delighted – Lucy was perfect for the role and we set to work changing her hours and developing the new role. The residents have been involved and are already benefiting from her time spent as our new ‘Activities Facilitator’.
Although we have lots of activities at Valerie Manor which are thoroughly enjoyed by most, Lucy felt that we could offer more to those who do not necessarily like to get involved in group activities as much, and tailor things each week to what individuals would like. This also allows the opportunity to experience different dining opportunities e.g. a small group enjoying lunch together in the library whilst listening to classical music, Lucy spending time in someone’s bedroom while they are having lunch on a one-to-one basis, or enjoying chatting to a small group of residents who do not like to join in group activities.
It’s a great role that Lucy has suggested and created which is already being enjoyed by several residents here at Valerie Manor.
