November 2013 Activities Summary

Brrrrr….I think the wet weather and wind has made us feel cold ! But nice and snuggly at Valerie Manor !

A busy physical month with B.Balanced, Skittles, New Age Curling with Steve from Leisure Link, and not forgetting our weekly Exercises from our Chairs.

We enjoyed a lovely visit from the Henfield Girl Guides who gave us a Remembrance Day Service. The girls really mingled with everyone afterwards which was lovely to see.

Some Residents enjoyed a trip to St.Peter’s Church and two visits from our Reflexologist were on offer.

American Thanksgiving was celebrated with Roast Turkey, decorations and a Quiz….no haggis on St.Andrews Day but another Quiz with decorations !

A fun time was enjoyed on Friday 15th November when we celebrated the BBC Children in Need Appeal donning Pudsey tee shirts and ears the staff once again made the day a little special for everyone…Let’s Dance also celebrated raising in excess of £2,000 by children tapping away in fancy dress for one hour then adults for two hours in the evening.

During the past few weeks after our exercising on Mondays we have been enjoying Songs from the Musicals…Residents, Staff and Visitors have been singing along with us ! It is so lovely seeing everyone smiling and remembering those beautiful songs.

We started talking about favourite entertainment. Max Miller was a favourite…Jackie Payne who conducted a band at The Palladium was mentioned a few times, The Mousetrap, Swan Lake, Peter Pan and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cats’ were also remembered… one lady loving the character ‘McCavity’
