At our last residents meeting we asked if the residents would like to take part in the annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch which they did! The residents suggested that we placed some bird feeders on the lawn outside our conservatory to encourage the birds to feed closer to the building as we did not feel it was warm enough to go and sit outside for an hour!
Gemma did a fantastic job and coordinated the bird watch but unfortunately we didn’t see that many birds on the day. We are however going to keep the bird feeder on the lawns and hopefully the birds will start to feed soon when they get used to it so next year we will have a better picture.
As everyone was in the mood Gemma also gave a talk on birds and concentrated on ‘The Migrants Return’ which the residents thoroughly enjoyed with a sherry before their Sunday lunch.
I’m sure many of the local community took part in this lovely event and we look forward to being part of it again next year.
