April Activities Summary 2015
Lots of lovely sunshine saw lots of lovely days that our ladies and gentlemen could enjoy some fresh air in the lovely garden ! Luckily the April Showers were few and far between. I must say that the gardens are looking really lovely not to forget the hanging baskets….well done to Clare for the ‘pretty bits’ and to Richard for the heavier work.
A busy April celebrating Easter with lots of yummy food…the Queen’s Birthday with decorations and a Quiz…St. George’s Day again with decorations and another Quiz. Nick came with his Skittles which is always a popular Activity. Another popular Activity is Flower Arranging. But the most exciting thing of all must have been the celebration of The National Care Team Award !!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Zoe and her wonderful Team for achieving such a wonderful Award. John and I joined some of the staff in Birmingham for the Awards and Zoe is still reeling over their success…completely deserved by everyone.
Our usual Exercise Sessions continue with a chat and sing-a-long afterwards. We enjoyed the music from Cats, The Sound of Music and Singing in the Rain.
A topic of conversation was favourite holiday destinations after one lady had just returned from a lovely trip with her family to Israel….another holiday remembered was as a hobby learning Gliding in Australia where a husband later became a pilot and she, her husband and son all flew solo Gliding !! Another memory was cycling in France and Canada. One gentleman loves his train travel and has journeyed on the West Coast Line to Mallaig, Wick and Truro where he stayed in Bed and Breakfast accommodation. He then travelled across to Doncaster visiting the Church before travelling home to London. He was lucky enough to travel in the cab of a Diesel Train on the Cornish Line and enjoyed many day excursions on Steam Trains.
I received a request from a Resident to add the following to my Blog……
’People are always too quick to criticise the NHS but after recently visiting Southlands, Worthing and Chichester Hospitals for various procedures I have nothing but praise for the kindness and proficiency received by the afore mentioned Hospital’s Staff.’
On that note I will say goodbye and enjoy the Merry Month of May !
