Work Experience – Jack

What a pleasure it was to have Jack working with us this week from Steyning Grammar School and Sixth Form College. Everyone agreed that he was a pleasure to have here and we all think that he will be exceptional in whatever he chooses to do in his career. We would like to wish him all the best for the future from all the residents and staff here at Valerie Manor.

Here is what Jack had to say……..

From my week within Valerie Manor I have managed to speak to residents and learn about their care but also how to treat Dementia patients from the dementia friends training while on placement.
From a young age I realised that I wanted to work within a caring profession and this is where the idea of wanting to become a paramedic came from. Being given the opportunity to to participate in work experience in college has meant that I can further improve my knowledge and gain experience in the caring sector.
My first placement was at Jolesfield Primary School where I worked with reception and year 1 children and helped them with their school work.
My second placement was in Worthing Hospital in the radiography and A & E department. This gave me an insight in emergency care and treatments. The final placement I wanted to work with elderly patients which is a large part of paramedical work. This is when I chose Valerie Manor to complete this work as I had found out about their fantastic care team and residents” – Jack Butcher
