Hydration Project at Valerie Manor
Hydration in the older generation is just so important to avoid dehydration and urinary tract infections which in turn leads to hospital avoidance as well. We were delighted when we were asked to be part of a project led by West Sussex County Council to look at hydration in care homes. The project will run until September and everyone is already getting involved here by exploring ways to improve hydration for our residents. The project is being led here by one of our registered nurses, Julie and being supported by one of our experienced care staff Jennifer.
We discussed the project at our last residents meeting and there were some fantastic suggestions of Mocktails and herbal drinks. One resident suggested we made some Elderflower water and said we had some in our gardens……….as always the staff set to work immediately and took advantage of the nice weather and as soon as the meeting was finished they went and found the Elderflower in our gardens! The staff enjoyed making the water with residents this week to enjoy!
