All meals are prepared in our own kitchen with care and attention by our fully qualified Chef, or by designated kitchen staff with a level II award in food safety and catering. Meals are served in the friendly comfort of our restaurant; alternatively residents may enjoy their meals in other communal areas including the conservatory or gardens, or in the comfort of their own bedroom. Special arrangements may also be made in advance for guests to dine with residents.
Great care is taken to provide a well-balanced, varied and interesting menu that is constantly under review by our residents. Special diets can also be catered for.
Here at Valerie Manor, we pride ourselves on our food, serving wholesome nutritious and tasty meals. We believe that “living to eat is better than eating to live”.
Our menus rotate on a four-weekly basis, changing six monthly with the seasons. The menus are not written in stone either, as we always have a second choice, and failing that there are jacket potatoes and omelettes along with other options always available too. All dietary needs are catered for, and of course, not forgetting all the themed lunches and suppers throughout the year.
Our residents are fully involved in developing our menus with our head chef and their team and enjoy their meals in the redesigned restaurant, fondly named ‘The Warren’ by our residents and their families. Residents can also choose to dine in their own bedroom or other communal areas around the home.
We are committed to using the best of locally grown and sourced produce and supporting local suppliers where possible. We also enjoy fresh herbs, fruit & vegetables from our own gardens that our residents often become involved in planting and picking.
We are also proud to have achieved a 5 star rating as part of the Food Standards Agency National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme at our latest inspection in November 2018. View our rating on their website.
