Welcome Linda

Linda has recently joined the team, and the residents and staff extend a very warm welcome to her.

“Hi my name is Linda, I have just joined the bank at Valerie Manor as a Care Assistant.

I have lived in Steyning since a child, and now live here with my husband and two daughters. I enjoy gardening and reading and am looking forward to joining the team at Valerie Manor”.

Thank you Emily

It is always nice to welcome work experience students to Valerie Manor, and we recently welcomed back a familiar face, who spent time with us last year for her Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Emily assisted the staff and residents in various tasks – all with a smile on her face! One of the tasks we gave her to do was to discuss with the residents and develop a ‘Fact of the Day’ folder, the idea being to stimulate conversations about memories and experiences, and with Emily’s help we won’t be running out of topics very soon!

Everyone wishes Emily the very best for the future, and look forward to seeing her again soon.

Welcome Robert

We are always happy to assist students obtain work experience during their studies, and when Robert contacted us we jumped at the chance.

Robert has been with us for a few weeks now and has settled in very well with residents and staff alike.

As with all new staff I have asked him to write a few words by way of an introduction.

“I came to Valerie Manor to get some experience to help me achieve my ambition of becoming a Doctor. I have learnt a lot during my time here, both staff and residents are very friendly and welcoming. I am a keen cyclist so you will often see me around the highways and byways of Sussex or cycling to and from Valerie Manor.”

Staff Bowling Night

At a recent team meeting it was mentioned that it would be nice to arrange a night out for all the team as a team building exercise, and so last week those that could make it went along to the Worthing Ten Pin Bowling centre for an excellent night showing everyone else how it should be done!

We also invited our local pharmacist along with his wife, because he goes the ‘extra mile’ for us – he really is part of the team.

As you will see by the photo a good time was had by all, and rumours abound about the next event being a Paint-ball outing – ouch!
