Christmas Festivities

We have really been spoilt this week and a big thank you to Reverend Challis for his Christmas service on Thursday morning, and bringing a wonderful choir along on Friday for our annual Carol concert.

Both events were, as usual, very well attended, and thoroughly enjoyed by residents and staff alike. It was particularly nice to see so many children come along and take part as well.

Afterwards we served mulled wine and mince pies and enjoyed hearing about the choirs plans for Christmas.

Thanks again to everyone for their kindness and time.

Family & Friends Afternoon

We were very pleased to welcome so many family and friends to Valerie Manor for our Christmas get together. Especially so bearing in mind the awful weather we had the previous evening and earlier in the day.

Mulled wine & mince pies were the order of the day, and were thoroughly enjoyed!!!

We also sold raffle tickets in aid of St Barnabas Hospice for our Chef Chris’s Christmas Cake and a bottle of Cava kindly donated by one of our Nurses, Sue.

It was so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves, our good friends from the Towers Convent School popped in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas as well.

When the time came to draw the raffle we asked a grand daughter of a resident to pull out the winning tickets.

Well done to the lucky 2 winning ticket holders and a big thank you to everyone for making it such a special afternoon.

Let’s Dance! (Hassocks) & Point4 Dance – Entertain at Christmas

A huge thank you to Robin, Sally-Ann and all their dancers from Let’s Dance & Point4 Dance for providing two afternoons of entertainment for the residents. The Adults performed on Wednesday 12th December and this included dances and songs which the residents thoroughly enjoyed followed by mince pies and mulled wine for all. Let’s Dance then went on to have their Christmas meal which is lovely as they always say that coming to Valerie Manor is the start of their Christmas!

Sally-Ann and her pupils from Point4 Dance then performed for us on Saturday which was very special again for the residents – we were joined by some mums, dads and grandads and grandmas which was lovely to see.

Thank you once again for Robin, Sally-Ann and the pupils for giving up their time to help make Christmas for the residents a special one.

Towers School Christmas Carol Concert

Well, we are really in the Christmas mood as we welcomed the Towers School choir this week for their annual Carol Concert at Valerie Manor. The Choir was made up of members of the drama and music club who have already performed several concerts including singing at the Holmbush Centre where they raised money for the homeless.

We all assembled in the conservatory (with a glass of sherry) and joined in with all the favourites – Oh Come All Ye Faithfull, Once in Royal David’s City, to name a couple. The choir was fantastic and the residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves. One resident pleaded for ‘just one more please?’ and they gladly obliged.

We provided the choir and teachers with mince pies and drinks for their efforts and took some photos of the girls with our very appreciative residents.

Once again many thanks to our friends at the Towers, who every year help make Christmas at Valerie Manor so very special.
