Is Summer here?

With the recent good weather Richard was able to keep up with the gardens without any rain interruptions, and the gardens are looking wonderful!

I brought some runner beans in from home and they now sit in our little veg plot and the bottom of the ramps. They are protected by some chicken wire, not that chickens are a problem – but our guests the rabbits!

Well done Richard, everyone has commented on how nice everything is looking!

Farewell Lucy

It was a sad day this week when Lucy worked her last shift.

She has worked at Valerie Manor since 2002 and having return from maternity leave took on the ‘Activities Facilitator’ role, which she was brilliant at. All our residents enjoyed the trips that she arranged from shopping at Marks & Spencer to Shoreham Airport or drives around the local area hunting out the best displays of Bluebells. She also spent time with those residents that prefer not to take part in the group activities on a one-on-one basis, which again the residents enjoyed.

Lucy will be missed by everyone and has promised to pop in from time to time, a big thank you from all her friends at Valerie Manor!!

VE Day Celebrations

We celebrated the 69th anniversary of VE Day this month, and we decorated the dining room and conservatory to mark the occasion, amongst the display were war time recipe books which several residents went through and remember some favorite recipes of their own.

Garden Centre anyone?

Lucy & Clive didn’t let the recent bad weather forecast put them off and took a full Jalopy along to a local garden centre, which is always a firm favourite with the residents. Is it the chance to take a look around the different plants or other items, or is it the coffee shop that is most enjoyed – who knows but everyone had a great time!
